She was only slightly disappointed at being caught. If Kasumi gave it much more thought than that, it would be easy to sink in the paranoia behind it, that the best shouldn’t have been put in place so easily by a single turian. However, Garrus was more than that, always had been, and it was silly to push the topic. Even someone who spent months in her company could work out the silence in her steps.
“Oh where’s the fun in that?” she teased as she released her cloak, approaching him with a relaxed, almost careless gait. “One of these days I’m going to catch you. You might as well decide now on just how I’m gonna surprise you, Kittenface.”
Right now, her favorite idea was to pull down on his cowl. She had never really tried it on any other turian. Were they really as unbalanced as they looked with it? “I’m just here to catch up anyway. It’s been a while.” Which, admittedly, was only a half-truth.
“Kittenface?” He echoed. Even though he despised it, he was frequently compared to a cat, a human mammal that was kept as a pet on Earth and some colonies. Instead of expressing any sort of agitation at the name, he didn’t comment on it further, not wanting to start an argument over something so silly. For all he knew, she called everyone “kittenface,” not just him. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he was thinking about it way too much. Garrus straightened and extended both arms behind his back, clasping one of his wrists in his three-fingered hand. Kasumi was being pleasant and civil, so there was no reason for him not to do the same. After all, he had always gotten along with her.
“It’s been a little while, yeah. Looks like your ‘occupation’ hasn’t changed, what with the sneaking and the cloaking and stuff.” If he had still been a cop when he met the thief, he might have been more wary, but he had left C-Sec long before they had been introduced to each other. After his time on Omega, he realized that common thieves were the least of his worries. Mercs, murderers, and merc leaders were the real enemy, not the people who break into houses and steal things.
